The aim of this project was to go through the garbage that we collect at home everyday for 7 days, document it and then identify one product that we could research upon.
For our group, we chose the egg crate as our product. In the graphic, we have shown the life cycle of an egg crate, right from the sourcing of materials to make it, right upto the end of its life cycle, i.e, in our dustbins.
It would be meaningless to talk about the life cycle of the crate alone, since without the eggs it is not a viable product. Hence the graphic shows both life cycles simultaneously, for a better understanding of the processes involved in the making of this product, which has one of the highest daily selling numbers across the globe.
The term life ‘cycle’ portrays that its life does not end at our dustbins. The nature of the product is such that it is 100% recyclable, and the first step of sourcing the materials begins from collection of these crates from the garbage itself.
